“Today We wake and We go to work.  The Time is Now and the Place is Here.”

MCK is very motivated to become the “One Pantry” hub for all the food pantry information in Manistee County.  We are all in this together.  There will be challenges in creating this new program along with carefully sustaining our existing programs but any meaningful work is worth doing and this work is what MCK believes in.   Other current programs, such as the Manistee Farmers Market and Community Gardens, are the reason MCK has been able to further its mission and finally open the Iron Works Café.  Our hearts are full.  With the Café being established, there is a physical MCK “home” and community food learning center to connect the dots between all the programs and articulate the mission of the organization.  This is a real community “epicenter” for people to educate themselves about all the local food systems and how they fit together and help push the MCK mission forward.  The mission has always been to provide access to healthy foods and working to end hunger in Manistee County. These are our program roots.  Let’s lay our roots down…way down deep in the ground.

By leveraging new and old technology of society, the goals are to keep planting these opportunities for the future of ending hunger and eating healthier in Manistee County.  The best way to do that is by remembering the hard work of our ancestors and cultivate the nurturing and loving practices of the past.

Everyone of you is a light source.  Together we will let the light in.  Together we will build a community based on restoration by using local food as medicine.

Love is where compassion prevails and kindness rules.

One Life.  One Community. One Pantry.
